It’s semifinal Thursday in the 2022 Iowa high school boys’ state basketball tournament. Three classes will have their championship matchups determined at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

CLASS 2A SEMIFINALS
No. 1 Central Lyon 57, No. 4 Pella Christian 51
Central Lyon built a 21-13 lead after one quarter and never trailed, holding off Pella Christian to advance to the 2A title game in its first boys’ state basketball appearance.
The Eagles (19-7) cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter, but the Lions (24-2) made 17 of their 22 free-throw attempts and limited PC to five free throws and 4-for-17 3-point shooting.
Cooper Spiess scored 15 points for Central Lyon, while Zach Lutmer had 10. Levi Schelhaas scored a game-high 16 for Pella Christian and Eric Mulder had 14 points and 14 boards.
No. 2 Rock Valley 60, No. 6 Monticello 44
Rock Valley set up an all-Siouxland Conference title game against Central Lyon. The teams split their regular-season meetings and the score of both those games was 65-63.
Bryson Van Grootheest scored a game-high 17 points and added five assists against the Panthers (22-4), while Sam Remmerde had 14 points and seven rebounds and Landyn Van Kekerix totaled 11 points and nine boards.
The Rockets (21-5), who knocked off top-ranked, Siouxland champion Boyden-Hull in the district finals, are in the finals for the sixth time and the first time since winning back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.
Preston Ries led Monticello with 15 points and seven rebounds. Tate Peterson scored 12 points.

CLASS 3A SEMIFINALS
No. 1 Dallas Center-Grimes 63, No. 4 Winterset 46
Tied at 27 at halftime, Dallas Center-Grimes outscored Winterset 36-19 in the second half to advance to its first title game.
It was an 18-6 third quarter for the Mustangs (21-5), including a 9-1 run to end it. They held the Huskies (20-6) to just one field goal in the quarter, and 32.7-percent shooting for the game.
Jackson Jones made four 3-pointers, matching the Huskies as a team, and scored 19 points. Cole Glasgow compiled 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Winterset’s Levi Gurwell had 17 points.
No. 7 DeWitt Central 70, No. 3 Davenport Assumption 46
DeWitt Central (20-6) scored the first 10 points of the game, was up 17-4 after a quarter and shot 71.9 percent overall to roll to the 3A title game. It’s in the finals for the third time, its history including a title in 1981 and a runner-up finish in 2014.
Shawn Gilbert scored 32 points on 11-for-14 shooting as the Sabers won the rubber match against a Mississippi Athletic Conference foe. Gibson McEwen made 6 of 7 shots and scored 16 points.
Noah Mack led Assumption (20-6) with 13 points.
CLASS 4A SEMIFINALS
No. 1 Ames 62, No. 4 Cedar Rapids Kennedy 43
Ames amassed a 42-18 advantage in points in the paint and 36-17 rebounding margin and moved on to the 4A title game for the first time since the Harrison Barnes and Doug McDermott-led team won back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010.
These two teams met way back on Dec. 4 and the result three months later was almost exactly the same, with the Little Cyclones winning that regular-season encounter 62-46 in Cedar Rapids.
Here, Ames (22-3) trailed only in the first minute of the game, built a 31-18 halftime lead and continued to pull away in the second half. Trevion LaBeaux tallied a game-high 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting and seven rebounds. Iowa State signee Tamin Lipsey had 15 points, five boards and five assists and Lucas Lueth added 12 points.
Jackson Bowman led the Cougars (21-4) with 13 points. Kenzie Reed had 12 and four assists.

No. 3 Johnston 61, No. 7 Cedar Rapids Prairie 57 (OT)
Johnston returned to the 4A title game for the second straight year after a runner-up finish in 2021.
The Dragons forced overtime with Masen Ryan 3-pointer that tied the score at 47 with 1:20 remaining. Both teams missed potential go-ahead shots in the final minute of regulation, then traded 3s in the opening minute-plus of OT. Trey Lewis scored the next five points and Johnston didn’t relinquish the lead, as Prairie turned it over three different times down by three or less.
Ryan made 5 of 6 3-point shots, the only miss at the fourth-quarter buzzer, and scored a game-high 18 points. Lewis added 17 and five assists and Samuel Tornabane made 7 of 8 free throws and scored 15 points.
Iowa State football commit Gabe Burkle led the Hawks with 14 points. Elijah Ward was 3 of 4 from deep and scored 13 points and Jack Wagemester had 10.
