Huge 4th quarter moves Iowa City West past Linn-Mar, 71-51

DES MOINES - It may be Linn-Mar's decade, but this is Iowa City West's year. At least it will be if the Trojans can win one more game.
A prodigious fourth-quarter output and incredible second-half shooting allowed West to beat back its Mississippi Valley Conference rival, 71-51, in a Class 4A state tournament semifinal Friday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. You can call it atonement for a loss to the Lions in this game last season.
“I think it just came down to who wanted it more in the second half,” said West's Dondre Alexander. “We didn't want to end our season the same way we ended it last year. To the same team. So we wanted to come out and play harder, play stronger and play smarter. We did.”
