Grant Gibbs lists 3 as possible transfer schools
Jeff Johnson May. 10, 2010 3:16 pm
Grant Gibbs was driving through Montana when contacted by phone Monday afternoon.
"We're about 13 hours in," Gibbs said.
It takes a long time to get home from Spokane, Wash., and once the former Linn-Mar all-state basketball player gets home, he plans on staying. Gibbs said he will visit Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Creighton as he looks for another school after announcing his transfer from Gonzaga last week.
"It just wasn't the right fit for me," Gibbs said of Gonzaga. "I was hurt a lot, and that didn't help. I just felt like I needed a change."
Gibbs red-shirted last season after having surgery for a torn labrum (shoulder). He played in 24 games this season, with one start, averaging 2.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in just over nine minutes per game.
He said he had recent knee surgery after suffering from tendinitis.
"I'm going to wait until I get home and talk to my parents about everything," Gibbs said. "I'd like to make a (transfer) decision sooner rather than later."
Gibbs said his mother is an Iowa State graduate.
