DES MOINES -- The law of averages kicked in.
Second-ranked Iowa City West followed a clumsy first half with a display of pure brilliance and ran away from No. 6 Waukee, 64-50, in a Class 4A semifinal at the girls state basketball tournament Friday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.
West (24-1) advances to the championship game for the second straight year; the Women of Troy face No. 4 Ankeny for the title at 8 p.m. Saturday. Ankeny (22-3) edged No. 2 Southeast Polk, 47-45, Friday.
