CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s boys’ basketball team finished the regular season undefeated for the first time in school history last week.
The Cougars went through the Mississippi Valley Conference without a loss for the first time.
Monday they ended the regular season top ranked in Class 4A. Kennedy is No. 1 in the final Iowa High School Athletic Association poll.
The top seven in the class remained exactly the same as last week: Kennedy (20-0), followed by Waukee, Waukee Northwest, West Des Moines Valley, Indianola, Norwalk and Dubuque Senior.
Ankeny Centennial lost last week and fell from eighth to 10th, with Cedar Falls and Sioux City East inching up a spot to eighth and ninth, respectively.
Bondurant-Farrar (20-0) finished on top in Class 3A, followed by Clear Lake and MOC-Floyd Valley. Cedar Rapids Xavier (15-6) and Marion (16-5) remained fourth and fifth despite each losing a game last week.
In fact, last week saw the last seven of the top 10 lose, allowing Williamsburg (17-4) to join the rankings at ninth. The Raiders beat Marion last week.
