Ankeny shuts down Saints, 39-25

DES MOINES -- Ankeny's dynamic defense claimed another victim Wednesday afternoon.
The fourth-ranked Hawkettes stymied No. 5 Cedar Rapids Xavier at virtually every turn, ousting the Saints, 39-25, in a Class 4A quarterfinal at the girls' state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.
"They have a big team, and our strength is getting up and down the floor," Xavier's Kayla Armstrong said. "We got caught in a half-court game."
