CEDAR RAPIDS — Lansing Kee won the Upper Iowa Conference this season for the first time in boys’ basketball. It won a Class 1A district championship earlier this week for the first time.
It plays Saturday night for a trip to the state tournament for the first time. Gladbrook-Reinbeck is the opponent.
It’s been a great winter for the Hawks, and the UIC’s all-conference team is a reflection of that. Kee juniors Jordan Cota and Dalton Mudderman were unanimous first-team picks by league coaches, it has been announced.
Cota, a 6-foot-5 guard-forward, is averaging 19.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. A 6-2 guard, Mudderman is averaging 17.0 points and 5.7 assists.
Teammate Kaleb Drape was a second-team selection.
The two other unanimous first-teamers are North Fayette Valley junior forward Cael Reichter and Postville senior forward Koby Bohr. Reichter has helped NFV to a 2A substate final game Saturday night against Hudson by averaging 22.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots per game.
Bohr also had a stellar season for a Postville team that won 13 games after winning just seven combined the previous three seasons. He averaged 18.8 points, 13.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.
The other first-team selections are Carver Blietz-Bentien and Parker Kuehl of MFL MarMac and Matson Winings of South Winneshiek.
