5 unanimously picked to All-River Valley Conference boys’ basketball Elite Team
Mid-Prairie’s Daren Lambert and Monticello’s Tim Lambert are the league’s Coaches of the Year

CEDAR RAPIDS — Five players are unanimous selections to the All-River Valley Conference boys’ basketball Elite Team, it has been announced.
Senior Carter Harmsen of Mid-Prairie and Sam Wilt of Anamosa, and juniors Tate Petersen of Monticello, Caden Kirkman of Wilton and Zane Witt of Camanche were picked by each of the 14 coaches in the league for the 10-player Elite Team.
Mid-Prairie senior Jackson Pennington, Monticello sophomore Preston Ries, Camanche senior Adam Dunlap, Bellevue senior Colby Sieverding and Cascade junior Cole McDermott are the other Elite Team members. Camanche senior Zach Erwin, an all-conference member last season who played in only two games this season because of injury, was given Special Mention Elite Team status.
Kirkman led the RVC in scoring, rebounds and blocked shot average (21 points, 11 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game), while Petersen led the RVC North Division in points (19) and assists (5.6) per game.
Harmsen (20.4 ppg) and Pennington are part of an undefeated Mid-Prairie team that beat Monticello, the North Division champ, in what turned out to be a River Valley Conference championship game last week that ended the regular season.
Mid-Prairie’s Daren Lambert and Monticello’s Tim Lambert (no relation) are Coaches of the Year in their respective divisions.
RVC coaches also picked an additional 20 players to all-division teams, 10 in each. They are listed below, as are honorable mention selections.
North Division Team — Trey Kuper (Monticello), senior; Peyton Schilling (Monticello), sophomore; Tucker Dickherber (Camanche), senior; Michael Delzell (Camanche), senior; Cade Hughes (Northeast Goose Lake), senior; Carter Pataska (Northeast Goose Lake), senior; Grahm Humpal (Anamosa), senior; Jackson Mueller (Bellevue), senior; Jensen Wedeking (Bellevue), junior; Cass Hoffman (Cascade), sophomore.
South Division Team — Holden Arnaman (West Branch), sophomore; Aidan Walker (Wilton), junior; Nolan DeLong (Durant), junior; Landyn Putman (Wilton), sophomore); Ethan Kos (Mid-Prairie), senior; Will Cavanagh (Mid-Prairie), senior; Alex Bean (Mid-Prairie), junior; Garrett Hollenback (Durant), junior; Bob Ryan (Tipton), senior; Caleb Wulf (West Liberty), senior.
