TAMA — South Tama’s softball team ended a pair of long losing streaks Monday night, one of which had lasted nearly nine years.
The Trojans defeated Vinton-Shellsburg in the first game of a Wamac Conference doubleheader, 11-1.
That ended an 80-game skid that dated back to June 26, 2021 (last win, against Eagle Grove).
It also snapped a 151-game Wamac slump. The Trojans’ previous league win came June 27, 2016, against Williamsburg.
South Tama did not field a team in 2022. The Trojans were 0-31 in both 2023 and 2024, and had dropped their first 12 games this season.
Vinton-Shellsburg won the second game Monday.
