Regina, Cascade, Monticello dominate all-River Valley Conference baseball elite team

CEDAR RAPIDS — Iowa City Regina, Cascade, Wilton and Monticello dominated the All-River Valley Conference Elite Team, the league announced Thursday.
All but outfielder Mason Compton (Durant) was a member of one of the above four schools. Regina, which beat Van Meter in a Class 2A state tournament semifinal Thursday night, had five members in catcher Trent Hoogenwerf, pitcher Mitchell Gahan, infielder Ryan Schott, outfielder Blake Berns and utility player Ryne Schooley.
Cascade's Elite Team selectees were pitcher Haris Hoffman, infielder Gannon O'Brien, outfielders Logan Otting and Brock Simon, as well as utility man Reid Rausch. Monticello had four players selected in catcher Jacob Manternach, pitcher Ryan Manternach, infielder Andrew Mescher and utility player Kyle Sperfslage.
