As a team bonding thing, players on Western Dubuque’s baseball team began wearing cowboy hats to and from games as the postseason began. Friday night they were wearing championship caps after a 6-2 win over North Polk gave the Bobcats their second consecutive state title.

Williamsburg beat Davenport Assumption 4-0 Friday at Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge to win the 2023 Iowa high school Class 3A state softball championship.
Lisbon’s special run has come to an end. No. 3 Remsen St. Mary’s stopped No. 9 Lisbon, 7-4, to capture the Class 1A state baseball championship Friday afternoon at Merchants Park. The Hawks won their fifth state title and first since 2016.
