Tristan Wirfs, at a glance:• Full name: Tristan Patrick Wirfs• Birthdate: Jan. 24, 1999 • School: Mount Vernon• Family: Mother, Sarah. Sister, Kaylia.• High-school achievements: Earned varsity letters in four sports. He was a two-time all-state pick in football and named captain of the Class 2A team by the Iowa Newspaper Association. Played in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American bowl game. Won 98 matches in his wrestling career, winning the 2A heavyweight state title with a 21-3 record. He was a three-time state wrestling qualifier. Won five individual state titles in track and field. Second all-time with a shot put of 67 feet and fifth all-time in the discus (195 feet, two inches). Swept throwing titles at Drake Relays. A two-year letter winner in baseball. • Future plans: Will attend University of Iowa and play football. Major is elementary education.

Siblings, Jacob, Emily, Sarah, Trey, Paul, Lauren, Henry and Mikey.• High-school achievements: Will finish with 17 varsity letters, and her fingerprints are all over some very successful programs at Mount Vernon. She has competed in state competition 12 times — four each in volleyball and track, twice each in basketball and softball. A two-time first-team all-state libero in volleyball, and is likely to become a three-time first-teamer in softball. An 11-time state placewinner in track, including a shuttle hurdle relay title in 2014 and a 1,600-meter relay crown in 2015.• Future plans: Will attend Drake University and play softball. Major is undecided.
