Kernels lose 7th straight
BURLINGTON - It continues to be a struggle for the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
Burlington scored four times in the sixth inning to break open a tight game and go on to a 8-2 win over the Kernels at Community Field on Friday night. It's the seventh consecutive loss for Cedar Rapids (19-22).
Aaron Slegers (4-1) has been the Kernels' most consistent pitcher, but he struggled, giving up nine hits and six runs (five earned) in six innings. Burlington won for a second straight night after losing seven in a row.
Cedar Rapids scored in the third and seventh innings, the third-inning run coming via a Michael Quesada home run.
The teams play the third game of their four-game series Saturday night.
