Kernels clobbered by Quad Cities, 10-4

DAVENPORT - A short night was followed by a long day for the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
Quad Cities scored three runs in the first inning and eight in the second en route to a 10-4 win Tuesday over the Kernels at Modern Woodmen Park.
Cedar Rapids (18-13) won the first game of this three-game series Monday night. It returned home from the 90-mile commuter trip after midnight Tuesday and reboarded the team bus at 8 a.m. for an 11:05 first pitch.
Starting pitcher Josue Montanez (0-1) was roughed up to the tune of seven hits, three walks and eight runs allowed in 1 2/3 innings. Quad Cities (13-18) had 18 hits in the game, including a 5-for-5, four-RBI performance from outfielder Tyler White.
Bryan Haar hit his fifth home of the season for Cedar Rapids. J.D. Williams went 2-for-2 with two walks.
The teams play again Wednesday night at 7:05.
