Iowa high school state baseball 2024: Brackets, schedule for 2A and 1A tournaments in Carroll

Merchants Park in Carroll hosts the Class 2A and 1A portion of the 2024 Iowa high school baseball state tournament from July 22-26. Teams qualified with victories in substate finals Monday and Tuesday. Below is a look at the brackets and schedule.

Substate finals in 3A and 4A are Wednesday night. Those state tournament games are at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids next week.

Class 2A state baseball tournament

Quarterfinals — Tuesday, July 23

No. 3 Underwood (27-2) vs. Unity Christian (25-11), 11 a.m.

Chariton (24-4) vs. Pleasantville (23-10), 1:30 p.m.

No. 6 New Hampton (27-6) vs. Aplington-Parkersburg (18-7), 7 p.m.

No. 8 Sumner-Fredericksburg (23-4) vs. Wilton (21-10), 4:30 p.m.

Class 2A substate finals

No. 8 Sumner-Fredericksburg 5, Anamosa 3 — The Cougars set an immediate tone, plating three-first inning runs. The first came from their second batter of the game as Jaymison Howard blasted a solo home run over the left-field fence. Three batters later, a double from Jaxon Willems scored Tatum Nuss and Caden Trainor and the hosts were up 3-0. Read more.

Wilton 4, Cascade 3 — Cascade literally was one hit away Tuesday night. Multiple times. Wilton got out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the seventh inning to advance to the state tournament. Read more.
