Iowa high school softball 2024: Gazette-area players to watch

Here are 16 Gazette-area players to watch for the 2024 Iowa high school softball season.

Skylar Benesh, sr., North Linn — Batted .500 last season with nine doubles, five triples and 16 home runs. Scored 84 runs and drove in 48. Stole 52 bases in 53 attempts. Class 1A first-team all-state.

Kenzie Bridgewater, jr., North Linn — Batted .431 last season with seven doubles. Scored 68 runs and drove in 25. Stole 46 bases in 47 attempts. Class 1A first-team all-state.

Braylen Conlon, jr., Cedar Rapids Xavier — Compiled a 16-7 pitching record with a 1.80 ERA last season. Struck out 202 and walked 74 in 143 2/3 innings. Batted .360 with eight doubles, 33 RBIs and 25 runs. Class 4A second-team all-state.

Jessa DeMoss, jr., Benton Community — Compiled an 18-10 pitching record with a 2.48 ERA last season. Struck out 153 and walked 71 in 158 innings. Batted .345 with seven doubles, nine home runs and 42 RBIs. Class 3A first-team all-state.

Michaela Goad, sr., Marion — Batted .491 last season with 14 doubles and seven home runs. Scored 33 runs and batted in 34. Class 4A second-team all-state.

Shannon Finn, sr., Williamsburg — Batted .363 last season with five triples. Scored 45 runs and batted in 19. Stole 34 bases in 38 attempts. Class 3A first-team all-state.

Ana Glawe, jr., Benton Community — Batted .500 last season with 10 doubles and 20 home runs. Knocked in 70 runs and scored 31. Class 3A first-team all-state.

Addison Gookin, sr., Mount Vernon — Batted .361 last season with eight doubles and six triples. Scored 38 runs and drove in 29. Stole 22 bases in 24 attempts. Class 3A first-team all-state.

Carly Goodwin, sr., Sigourney — Compiled a 23-3 pitching record and 0.19 ERA last season. Struck out 325 and walked seven in 144 2/3 innings. Batted .433, scored 33 runs and drove in 41. Class 1A first-team all-state.

Lianna Hull, jr., Iowa City High — Batted .452 last season. Scored 33 runs and stole 17 bases in 18 attempts. Class 5A second-team all-state.

Piper Johnson, soph., Cedar Rapids Prairie — Batted .424 last season with seven doubles. Scored 33 runs and batted in 17. Compiled a 3-1 pitching record and 4.86 ERA. Class 5A first-team all-state.

Lily Knutson, soph., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Compiled a 13-9 pitching record and 2.15 ERA last season. Struck out 194 batters and walked 48 in 143 innings. Batted .343 with 14 doubles and 17 RBIs. Class 5A second-team all-state.

Emily Koranda, sr., Linn-Mar — Compiled a 14-5 pitching record and 2.00 ERA last season. Struck out 154 batters and walked 16 in 126 innings. Batted .446 with 17 doubles and four home runs. Scored 25 runs and drove in 25. Class 5A first-team all-state.

Josephine Moore, jr., Sigourney — Batted .460 last season with 12 doubles and 42 RBIs. Compiled a 4-2 pitching record and a 2.19 ERA. Class 1A first-team all-state.

Haley Schroeder, sr., Iowa City Liberty — Batted .400 last season with 15 doubles and six home runs. Scored 55 runs and drove in 24. Stole 26 bases in 26 attempts. Class 5A second-team all-state.

Kiya Steger, sr., Western Dubuque — Compiled a 14-4 pitching record with a 2.02 ERA last season. Struck out 135 batters and walked 35 in 125 innings. Batted .312 with five home runs, scoring 17 runs and driving in 44. Class 4A second-team all-state.
