May. 14, 2012 3:37 pm
Can you get to McMinnville, Ore., from Cedar Rapids? And in two days?
Apparently so. McMinnville is where the Coe College baseball team will play its NCAA Division III college baseball regional tournament. The Kohawks play Trinity (Texas) in a first-round game Wednesday afternoon at 5.
Coe (27-15) is the fifth seed in a six-team pod, Trinity (34-10) is No. 2. The top seed is Concordia (Texas), which has a 36-9 record.
Others in the regional are California schools Whitworth (26-13-1), La Verne (25-14) and Saint John's (Minn.) (29-14).
Coe qualified for the NCAA D-III tournament for a second straight year, winning the Iowa Conference tournament last weekend.

Coe beat Buena Vista, 4-1, to move on to NCAA Division III regional play and won its second consecutive Iowa Conference baseball tournament championship.(Justin Torner/Freelance)
