CEDAR RAPIDS -- Tarah Cain has been hired as the new varsity softball coach at Cedar Rapids Xavier.
Cain most recently served as head softball coach at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, in 2024. In her lone season there, she led the program to a 35-24 record.
Before that, Cain served as the head softball coach at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill.
A former collegiate pitcher, Cain played at Elgin Community College, Waubonsee Community College and St. Ambrose University.
“I have followed the success that Xavier softball has had, and I am excited to have the opportunity to lead this program,” Cain said in a release. “I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Xavier, its activities programs and its community.”
Cain succeeds Nikki Gahring, who served as head coach for 14 seasons.
