Summer of the Arts is bringing the boogie back to town with its second annual Disco Ball, a funky fundraiser celebrating the community and supporting free arts programming throughout the year.
The event will take place 7-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov.1, at the First Avenue Club, 1550 S. 1st Ave., Iowa City.
After a successful event last year, the Disco Ball returns with even more energy, featuring Motown classics, disco hits and a dance floor designed to keep you moving all night long.
Event highlights:
- Live DJ spinning disco-era hits and Motown favorites
- Lighting and sound by Electric Ear Sound Machine
- Spacious dance floor and festive, retro-themed décor at the First Avenue Club
- One complimentary drink with each ticket (beer, wine or soft drink)
- Full bar and food menu available for purchase
- Disco-themed Selfie Station
- Private VIP tables for eight available (includes one complimentary bottle of champagne).
- 21+ event
- Limited free appetizers at 6:30 p.m. (first come, first-serve)
"This event is about more than just dancing — it's about building community and ensuring that everyone can continue to enjoy free arts and cultural experiences year-round,” said Lisa Barnes, executive director of Summer of the Arts. “It’s a celebration of music, connection and the power of the arts to bring people together."
Tickets are $25 per person and include everything listed above. A limited number of private VIP tables are available for groups looking to make the night extra special. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best disco-inspired attire — from bell bottoms to sequins — and embrace the spirit of the era.
Purchase tickets online at summeroftheARTS.org. All proceeds from the event directly support Summer of the Arts’ free programming.
