Black History Month Short Film Fest, Saturday, Feb. 17

After a family story time honoring black culture and history, the Iowa City Public Library will host a Black History Month Short Film Fest. It features several important stories that have been made into animated features, including 'Voice of Freedom: Fannie Lou Hamer,” 'Spirit of the Civil Rights Movement,” 'Trombone Shorty,” 'The Snowy Day” and more. All ages are invited to stop in for one short film or stay for them all; popcorn will be served. The Family Storytime, from 10:30 to 11 a.m., features books about key African-American figures and celebrates the impact of black musicians.
