Five Seasons Chamber Music Student Performance

Students of all ages will present chamber music pieces that they have prepared during a weeklong rehearsal.

Logan Adam Schultz: CONCERT FOR ARTS EDUCATION

This one-night benefit concert with Logan Adam Schultz of Cedar Rapids and local guest artists, is raising money for the youth education programs at Theatre Cedar Rapids and Giving Tree Theater in Marion. Guest performers include Janelle Lauer, Scott Dix, Angela Billman and Oceana (Lacie De Souza and Gerard Estella). Running in Place (Alex Schulte, Jackson Bartelme and Lincoln Ginsberg) will open the show at 7 p.m.

Five Seasons Faculty ensembles and festival orchestra

Guest artists and local artists will perform traditional and contemporary chamber music, including Concerto No. 3 in D major, BWV 1054 and Piazzolla for Flute and Harp. The festival orchestra will perform a movement of Debussy Printemps and Artie Shaw Concerto for Clarinet with Phil O'Connor, a guest artist from Los Angeles, under the baton of Jason Weinburger.

The Missing Letters

Five Seasons Chamber Concert

Now in its 15th year, this weeklong Cedar Rapids festival brings together musicians of all ages and levels to play the widest range of chamber music, from simple duets to string orchestras, from Haydn and Mozart to contemporary American composers. This closing night concert will feature guest artists: John Daversa, American jazz trumpeter, big band leader, composer and arranger; Dave Eggar, cellist, pianist and collaborator with groups like Foreigner; and Phil O'Connor, a clarinet and saxophone player who's appeared at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles Opera, Long Beach Symphony and Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Karate chop, Silence

Karate Chop, Silence, based out of Winona, Minn., is a funky alt-rock quartet with pop and groove influences.

Also performing is Meadowlark Valley, the music of multi-instrumentalist JJ Schrick, with influences from Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty and Andrew Bird.

Big sam's funky Nation

This driving force of urban funk is led by trombonist and vocalist Big Sam Williams. The band's signature Noladelic Funk combines a rock sensibility with jazz improvisation and the horn-heavy front section that's the hallmark of big band funk.

Syvers, in the Attic, Crystal City

Syvers is an indie folk-electronic group hailing from Minneapolis. The husband-wife fronted band brings together a vulnerability focused on the process. In the Attic is an alternative band from Cedar Rapids. Crystal City is fronted by Dave Helmer and Sam Drella. Helmer is a singer/songwriter from central Iowa with blue-collar roots. the band, now based in Iowa City, is heavily influenced by Paul Westerberg, Tom Petty, John Prine and Townes Van Zandt.
