With their right hands raised, 75 candidates for American citizenship will take the oath of allegiance to the United States on Friday. The public is invited to witness this 12th annual ceremony on the east lawn of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum. Chief Magistrate Judge C.J. Williams of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa will preside. In the previous 11 ceremonies, more than 800 immigrants have become American citizens. Four agencies collaborate for this event: the Des Moines office of the Citizenship and Immigration Service, the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library-Museum, the Hoover Presidential Foundation, and the National Park Service.
