8 musical acts to catch in Eastern Iowa this week

FOREIGNER

Responsible for some of rock's most enduring anthems, including 'Cold as Ice,' and 'I Want to Know What Love Is,' the band has teamed up with a live orchestra engagement to perform those hits. The concert will feature 25 singers from Solon High School's choir.

Damani Phillips

This concert was post-postponed from last week because of inclement weather. An acclaimed saxophonist, Damani Phillips will be joined by Coe College Assistant Professor of Music Steve Shanley on piano, Steve Carlson on bass and Fabio Augustinas on percussion.

Mississippi String Band Release Party

Mississippi String Band celebrates the release of its CD, 'Two Bucks in the Tank.' Bill 'Cricket' Davis, Dave Hummel and Dale Beeks play songs new and old. With a dobro and fiddle blending with guitar and vocals by Hummel, the band plays old blues, authentic country and new compositions that evoke traditional music genres. The group was named to the Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
