WATERLOO - They're over. All of them.
Waterloo West shocked Linn-Mar, 53-44, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls' basketball game Tuesday night, ending three long Linn-Mar winning streaks.
The Lions (10-1 overall, 6-1 MVC) had won an MVC-tying 39 consecutive games, matching the mark set in 1995 by Cedar Rapids Washington. They failed to break the record Tuesday as Connecticut signee Kiah Stokes was held to three field goals and 13 points.
Also ended, Linn-Mar's 36-game win streak and its 53-game regular-season string.
The Lions led, 23-22 at halftime before West (7-2, 5-2) controlled the second half. Jordan Johnston paced the Wahawks with 22 points.
Elsewhere in the area, Mount Vernon outlasted DeWitt Central, 38-37, in a Class 3A 2-vs.-3, Wamac Conference East Division matchup at Mount Vernon.
