Washington hopes to hire basketball coach soon (update)

Apr. 25, 2012 4:51 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids Washington Athletics Director Paul James said Tuesday night he anticipates having a new head boys' basketball coach by the end of the week.
The school has been seeking a coach since Brad Metzger resigned in late March. Mount Vernon Coach Ed Timm said last week he had interviewed for and was offered the job recently but turned it down.
"I'd say that's fair," James said, when asked if he'll have a hire by Friday. "It's been a process."
An interesting candidate emerging at Washington, according to sources, is Adam Sanchez.
He is an assistant coach at Grand View University in Des Moines. Sanchez played and was an assistant coach at Wartburg College and was a graduate assistant for Keno Davis at Drake.
