CEDAR RAPIDS – Daniel Vega has decided Wyoming isn't for him.
The Cedar Rapids Xavier all-stater has left the Cowboys football program and is back home, contemplating his next step.
'I just had some second thoughts leading up to our report date in June,' Vega said Thursday morning. 'When I got there, I just didn't feel right. I didn't feel at home.'
A 260-pounder, Vega was a first-team all-state defensive tackle in 2013, helping Xavier to the Class 4A championship game in 2012 and 2013. He said he will workout this summer as he tries to find another college to play.
He said he didn't think Wyoming has released him from his scholarship, yet. He also had offers from schools such as North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota, Northern Iowa and Illinois State.
Xavier teammate Cole Turner remains at Wyoming as a freshman offensive lineman.
