Former Iowa men’s basketball player Tyler Cook has signed a contract with the NBA’s Detroit Pistons that will last until the end of the current NBA season, at the minimum.
The contract is non-guaranteed for next season, but will be guaranteed five days after the yet-to-be-announced free agency moratorium period according to the Detroit Free Press.
Cook is finishing the second of two 10-day contracts with Detroit. In 10 games with the Pistons, he is averaging 3.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game.
In eight G League games with the Iowa Wolves this season, Cook averaged 20.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 33.3 minutes while shooting 59.9% from the field.
Cook went undrafted in 2019 after his Iowa career ended, and has been with four different NBA franchises. He played in four games with the Brooklyn Nets this season.
