Authorities say a South Dakota truck driver is dead and another driver injured in a collision involving five semi-trailer trucks on Interstate 29 near Missouri Valley in western Iowa.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, southbound traffic on Interstate 29 was at a standstill near the end of a construction zone when the collision occurred Tuesday.
The driver of a semi owned by Roadway Trucking was killed. He was identified as 62-year old Karl Krueger, of Sioux Falls, S.D.
The truck driven by Krueger rear-ended a delivery truck driven by 62-year old Charles Merle Sundt, of Garretson, S.D., who was injured during the crash, and taken to the Missouri Valley Hospital.
Authorities say the drivers of the other trucks, including a Louisville, Ky. man, were not hurt.
The accident remains under investigation.
