CLASS 3A QUARTERFINAL

n Time: 6:35 p.m.
n Key players: Point guard Amry Shelby is one of the most dynamic players in the tournament. A recruit of NCAA Division II Wayne State (Neb.), he averages 24.1 points per game. Carroll's leading scorer is just a freshman: 6-foot point guard Casey Kasperbauer averages 16.1 points. He's a 48-percent shooter from 3-point range.
n Coaches: Mike Manderscheid is in his first season as head coach at Marion. Craig Douma led Carroll to the 2007 state tourney. He also is being inducted into the IHSAA's basketball hall of fame this week for his exploits as a player.
n State tournament history: This is the first state tournament appearance for Marion since 1952. The Indians also appeared in 1950. Carroll is making its 10th appearance at state. It finished second in 1967 and third in 1971 and 2005.
