The day the sky turned black!

By Miranda Suave: I was just into my fourth day of first grade on Sept. 11, 2001. I remember the frantic phone call my mother recieved in the morning, right before leaving for Silver Firs Elementary School in Seattle, Washington. My mother turned on the TV, and I remember watching the plane crash and watching all the people running around hysterical down below! We were told to stay home and remain in the basement because my dad was in the Navy and after that attack they were not sure if it was going to happen again and they were obviously going for the big cities, which is why my father was in a panic! I remember having to sleep with my mom for nearly a month because I couldn't get the thought of a plane crashing into my house out of my head! It still haunts me today! That is a day I will never forget. I am so thankful that my family and friends were safe, but my heart still goes out to the families that lost loved ones, on the day the sky turned black!
