The Texas Tenors, featuring the operatic stylings of 1987 UNI graduate John Hagen, will find out tonight whether or not they'll advance to the finals in "America's Got Talent."
The trio sang "Unchained Melody" in Tuesday night's Hollywood semifinal round, in which 10 acts were competing for four slots in the finals. Viewers were encouraged to text or phone in their votes following the show and the results will be revealed starting at 8 p.m. tonight on NBC-TV.
Judge Sharon Osborne proclaimed the Texas Tenors "fantastic," after purring over Marcus Collins' heart-pumping good looks. She called their eye contact "electric."
David Hasselhoff said, "I just see that billboard in Las Vegas. ... Without a doubt, you are the front-runners to win this competition."
Perpetually tough judge Piers Morgan chided the trio for choosing "the cheesiest pop song in history and singing it in the cheesiest possible way." As the singers wilted, he then changed gears, and admitted that by going against his advice, the act produced a performance "that was brilliant."
Tune in tonight to see what America thought.
