Taylor rejoins Kernels

May. 13, 2009 10:07 pm
Left-handed relief pitcher Andrew Taylor has been sent back to the Cedar Rapids Kernels from high-Class A Rancho Cucamonga. To make room for him on the active roster, right-handed reliever Francis Cabrera was sent to Los Angeles Angels extended spring training.
Taylor went 1-0 with a 9.53 earned run average in five appearances for Rancho. He began the season in Cedar Rapids, not allowing a run in four innings. Cabrera went 1-3 with a 10.61 ERA in six games for the Kernels.
Also, lefty pitcher Chris Armstrong returned to Cedar Rapids on Wednesday. He was placed on the temporarily inactive list last week so he could be with his wife, who delivered the couple's first child, a boy named Shane Alexander Armstrong.
Chris Armstrong was not activated for Wednesday's game against Wisconsin.
