CEDAR RAPIDS — A food truck is opening its first brick and mortar restaurant soon.
Moy’s Food from the Streets, a mobile Cedar Rapids vendor for the last eight years, will open a permanent location in September at 4201 42nd St. NE, Suite 140.
“From the streets to our own four walls — this dream has been years in the making,” owner Moy Yescas said in a social media post on Aug. 19. “We can't wait to welcome you into our new brick-and-mortar home where you'll find all your beloved street tacos plus an expanded menu we're still perfecting just for you.”
Moy’s serves Mexico City-inspired street tacos in a variety of breakfast and lunch flavors, including huevos con chorizo, Pollo Loco with marinated cilantro lime chicken, al pastor with grilled pineapple and El Toro with ground sirloin marinated in chiles.
Yescas, who was born and raised in Mexico City, moved to Minneapolis to help family-owned restaurants in 1997 before relocating to Cedar Rapids in 2008. After being laid off from his corporate job in 2017, he started a food truck with his partner, Monticello native Puchi Angelique Yescas.
Their new location was previously home to Pizza World, which moved to Fountains Drive NE in April.
