Should Kernels stick with Angels? (now with poll)

Sep. 15, 2009 5:29 pm
Another Midwest League season has come and gone for the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Another season has come and gone without a trip to the championship series.
1994 was the last time Cedar Rapids appeared in the finals. That also was the Kernels' last title.
There is one more year left on the latest Player Development Contract extension between the Kernels and parent Los Angeles Angels.
Maybe you love the Angels, maybe you don't. Maybe you don't care.
But let me leave you with this. The Kernels and Angels have been partnered since 1993, the longest current marriage in the Midwest League. The Kernels were tied with Wisconsin for longest partnership until the Timber Rattlers decided to get rid of the Seattle Mariners and go with the Milwaukee Brewers this season. The club set a franchise record for attendance. Kernels' attendance, meanwhile, has stagnated since the opening of the newer Memorial Stadium. This season's attendance was the second lowest since the park opened in 2002.
Just sayin'.
So, OK, what you think? Seem to ask this question about every two years.
Take the poll below.
Who should the Cedar Rapids Kernels' major league affiliate be?(polling)
