Rosalyn Lee (Spear) Hill, 88, of Tipton, stepped peacefully into eternity early Sunday morning, November 24, 2024 while under the care of Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm, Red Oak Cemetery, Tipton. Pastor Kerri Sandusky will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Meixner, Mattea Labs, Landan Hill, Carter Hill, Rich Gilbreaith and Drew Labs. Honorary pallbearers will be Olivia Hubbard, Tom Spear, Gary Spear and Denny Spear. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Cedar Manor Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Rosalyn was born on September 1, 1936 in rural Tipton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harry Johnson Spear and Anvy Alberta Dewell Spear. Rosalyn graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1954 and then attended University of Denver, Iowa State University and the Business and Airline School in Omaha. On February 10, 1957, Rosalyn was united in marriage to Dennis Gale Hill in Tipton. They later divorced. They were blessed with four children, Steve, Tamara, David and Diana. Rosalyn worked for three years as a middle school aid and four years as a middle school secretary. Then she managed the Tipton Dairy Queen for two seasons and then began her career as the Cedar County Veterans Affairs and General Relief Director for 15 years.
Rosalyn cherished her family most of all and enjoyed attending the grand children’s events. She spent much of her time outdoors and had a life long love of horses.
Rosalyn is survived by her four children, Steve (Mary) Hill of Carroll, Iowa, Tamara (Doug) Meixner of Tipton, Iowa, David (Trina) Hill of Tipton, Iowa and Diana (Rich Gilbreaith) Hubbard of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Kay Connelly of Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Dale Spear), sister (Shirley Spear Connelly). A special thank-you to the staff at Cedar Manor and St. Croix Hospice.
