IOWA CITY – The robbery trial of Jay Harkless, 24, of Iowa City, was continued to July 18 in Johnson County District Court.
Harkless, charged with four counts of second-degree robbery, is accused of robbing a Rent-A-Center, West Bank and Midwest One Bank in Iowa City and Midwest Bank in North Liberty.
During a search of Harkless' residence after the Rent-A-Center robbery officers found items they believed linked him to 10 additional bank and credit union robberies in Iowa City, North Liberty, Cedar Falls, Waterloo, and Muscatine. Harkless confessed to all 11 of the robberies, police said.
A pre-trial conference is set 9 a.m. July 7.
