Project Thrive, a partnership between Diversity Focus and Corridor businesses, will return this month with new opportunities for area residents to learn about career and job opportunities.
Four Oaks, Diversity Focus and Manpower will host a community event highlighting job opportunities at Mercer in Iowa City. The jobs being offered are temporary, full-time positions which could lead to permanent positions, according to a release from Diversity Focus.
The program will be held on August 9 and August 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clarion Highlander Hotel, 2525 N. Dodge St. in Iowa City.
Project Thrive first launched in March with General Mills. General Mills hosted the event at the Paul Engle Center in Cedar Rapids. The event was designed to give Wellington Heights residents and others a chance to learn more about job opportunities.
Gabe Erickson, director of communications and media affairs at Diversity Focus, said then that the goal is to reach diverse employees and provide them with possible career opportunities.
Jenifer Vick, development director at Four Oaks, described the partnership as the ideal opportunity to further serve Four Oaks' mission.
“So when parents have access to quality employment, children have a greater chance of having their basic needs met, which contributes to their success," Vick said when Project Thrive launched. “It's about children … by uplifting and providing resources to parents, it directly impacts the children that we serve.”
