Former LaPorte City Union girls' soccer scoring star Darian Powell has committed to play collegiately at Marquette.
Powell scored an amazing 131 goals in two seasons at Union, transferring for her junior year this year to Shattuck-St. Mary's prep school in Minnesota. The goal was to become more visible for colleges, a strategy that worked.
Marquette made it to the national Sweet 16 this past fall, losing to Florida State. The Golden Eagles finished the season ranked 12th.
In other recruiting news, Marion's Kristin Kramer has committed to play basketball and soccer at Southwest Minnesota State. It is a Division II school in the Northern Sun Conference, the same league as Upper Iowa.
Kramer recently set Marion's career goals record.
