Police said the owner of a North Liberty restaurant groped a woman in May.
According to a North Liberty Police Department criminal complaint, at 10 p.m. May 5, 46-year-old Luis A. Perez, owner of Iguana's Grill, and the alleged victim were standing near the bar shortly before the restaurant closed for the evening. Police said Perez touched the woman between her legs, but over her clothing, without her permission.
The woman told police Perez has routinely made sexually-charged comments toward her and expressed his intent to “engage in sex acts,” according to the criminal complaint.
Perez has been arrested and charged with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse without injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
