A 31-year-old Iowa City man faces multiple charges of sex abuse based on allegations he had sex with two young girls.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, the victim reported to the Child Protection Center that she was introduced to Luis A. Contreras, also known as Ovidio J. Duenas, during the summer of 2011 when she was 14 and he was 29. Police said the victim reported she and Contreras began a sexual relationship that lasted until recently. Contreras allegedly took the girl to several motels in the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids area and their own homes for the purpose of having sex.
In a separate incident, another victim reported that in 2009, during her freshman year of high school, Contreras called her and asked to hang out. Police said Conteras picked up the girl and took her to a Coralville motel. Contreras had alcohol and cocaine with him during the encounter, police said.
The alleged victim told police Contreras tried to kiss her and she told him no. Rather than relent, Contreras allegedly took the girl's clothes off and forced himself upon her.
Contreras has been arrested and faces seven counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. Each count carries a potential 10 year sentence.
