An Iowa City man is accused of reckless use of a firearm.
Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a warehouse near the Wildwood Saloon outside of Iowa City at 12:43 a.m. Jan. 11 for a report of possible shots fired. Responding officers discovered 69-year-old Dennis D. Pagels sitting at a desk inside his storage unit, loading a handgun.
Deputies made contact with Pagels who admitted to firing his 9mm Luger four times. Police said Pagels thought he was firing into a snowbank, but three bullet holes were found in a nearby building. Authorities found four 9mm shell casings and one .22 caliber shell casing outside of the door of Pagels' storage unit.
Pagels faces two counts of reckless use of a firearm, an aggravated misdemeanor.
