Police investigating attempted robbery at Iowa City convenience store

The Iowa City Police Department is investigating an early morning strong arm robbery.
Officers were called to the Kum and Go on Mormon Trek Boulevard at 2:47 a.m. Monday morning for a theft call. Police said the victim reported being assaulted by a subject who demanded cash. The alleged victim was able to flee the scene without giving the assailant any money, police said.
The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a black and blue coat, police said.
