Police identify suspect in Iowa City Plaza Towers assault
UPDATE: Iowa City police have identified a man connected to an assault late last month.
A release from the Iowa City police department said the man was identified as Justin Ryan Whitehurst, 26, of Iowa City, with assistance from the public.
Whitehurst is accused of grabbing a woman while she was using the stairs in the Plaza Towers at 201 S. Linn Street on Jan. 24 at 3:15 p.m.
Whitehurst was interviewed by police, and a complaint from the Iowa City police department said he followed the woman up a stairwell and grabbed her buttocks before running away, leaving the woman offended and afraid. The complaint said Whitehurst admitted to pinching the woman, and that he did not know her.
Whitehurst was charged with assault.
