The Linn County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of reports from citizens who have received phone calls from a person claiming to be from "the Sheriff s Office". The caller states that the person has an outstanding arrest warrant and further advises that they can take care of the warrant over the phone by providing the caller with the person's debit card information.
The Linn County Sheriff s Office reminds people that law enforcement agencies never request debit card, credit card, or payment information over the phone for outstanding arrest warrants.
