Patricia A. Berglund, 83, of Elkhorn, Neb., passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

A Catholic Mass will be held to celebrate her life at 3 p.m. Friday, May 28, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion, S.D. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 28, at the Church. Burial will follow the funeral at Meckling Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are handled by Hansen Funeral Home.

Patricia was born in Vermillion, graduated from Vermillion High School, and continued to earn a teaching degree from the University of South Dakota. She taught elementary school in South Dakota before marrying Melvyn (Pete) Berglund on Aug. 24, 1959. They were married 47 years.

She was proud to be a stay-at-home Mom after her children were born. When all the children were in school, she went on to be a school library aid and later worked for the Great Plains Girl Scouts in Omaha, Neb. Patricia was an avid card player, reader and enjoyed playing golf with her second husband Ray.

Patricia is survived by her four children, Terese (Randy) Bahmer of Omaha Neb., Dana (John) Holiday of Louisville Ky., Grant (Theresa) Berglund of Omaha Neb., and Kevin (Jennifer) Berglund of New Prague Minn.; eight granchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Sarah Walz; brother, Donald Walz; twin sisters, Mary Jeanne Girard and Mary Jayne Merrigan; and first husband, Pete Berglund.
