Olejniczak hospitalized, will coach Tuesday

Word is that Decorah baseball coach Dennis Olejniczak made the long trip with his team Monday night for its Class 3A quarterfinal Tuesday afternoon against Norwalk despite having to go to the hospital Sunday because of an irregular heartbeat.
Olejniczak has a 1,221-455-2 record, which ranks second all-time nationally to Lansing Kee's Gene Schultz. Decorah has made 10 state tournament appearances and won three championships.
The Vikings (22-13) are 3A's No. 5 seed and Norwalk (25-13) is No. 4. Decorah will surely face Norwalk pitcher
Matt Dermody, a 26th-round draft pick of the
Pittsburgh Pirates in June.
