Odell Beckham Jr. 1-handed Hawkeyes in Outback Bowl

Nov. 24, 2014 11:37 am
Odell Beckham Jr., of the New York Giants became a household name Sunday night with his instantly legendary one-handed touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys.
Those of us who watched Iowa's 21-14 loss to LSU in this year's Outback Bowl got a taste of what Beckham could do with just one hand.
In the video linked to the right, Beckham made a superb one-handed grab down the right sideline for a gain of 29 yards against the Hawkeyes in the third quarter. Three plays later, though, Iowa's John Lowdermilk returned an Anthony Jennings interception 71 yards to the LSU 1, and the Hawkeyes scored three plays later.
Beckham entered the game with 57 catches for 1,117 yards and eight touchdowns, but wasn't much of a force outside of that one sensational catch. He had just one other reception, for six yards.
In fact, Iowa's Jake Duzey, C.J. Fiedorowicz and Jacob Hillyer all had more receiving yards than Beckham.
Of course, LSU went with a very conservative offense because it had the inexperienced Jennings at quarterback instead of Zach Mettenberger, who was injured in the final regular-season game and missed the bowl. Mettenberger is now starting for the Tennessee Titans.
in this year's NFL Draft on him.
