More on Kennedy baseball coach Bret Hoyer

Wanted to share an e-mail I got from Cedar Rapids Kennedy football coach Tim Lewis. Hope Coach Lewis doesn't mind.
Wasn't aware of the summer commitment baseball coach/assistant football coach Bret Hoyer makes each year. If I had, I'd have added it to the story on Bret approaching 500 career baseball victories.
Coach Hoyer is an impressive guy who loves working with students and student-athletes.
Jeff,
This is Tim Lewis - head football coach at CR Kennedy. I appreciated the article on Coach Hoyer in this morning's Gazette. I don't know if you will do anymore on him, but I thought it might be noted that he is my offensive coordinator for our varsity football team. That's a pretty big deal in itself - to be able to commit to baseball like he does, take a week off (sometimes not even that long, depending on the end of their season and the start of our football camp) and then hit football like we do in the competitive MVC. What's even more impressive is that we have football workouts on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6:30 am all summer - and he never misses those. There are nights when he doesn't get home until late from baseball, but he is always there coaching football at 6:30 am the next morning - then he's usually off to batting practice. I'm not sure there are too many baseball coaches with 500 wins that also make the commitment to football during the summer like he does. I think that speaks volumes for his love of working with our young people. Kudos to his wife, too - who allows him to do this!!!!
Thanks for your time,
Tim Lewis
