McDonald’s All-Americans: Stokes, Logic play Wednesday
Mar. 29, 2011 2:59 pm
Kiah Stokes' national all-star tour is set to begin.
Stokes, who led Linn-Mar High School to four state-tournament appearances and a championship in 2010, is one of 24 girls that will play in the McDonald's All-American High School Game on Wednesday.
Tipoff is 6:30 p.m. from the United Center in Chicago and will be televised by ESPNU.
A 6-foot-3 center bound for the University of Connecticut, Stokes was voted Miss Iowa Basketball 2011 after averaging 25 points and 14.9 rebounds per game this season as the Lions went 22-3 and reached the 4A state semifinals.
Linn-Mar was 94-7 during Stokes' career.
Stokes will be joined on the West team by future UConn teammates Brianna Banks (Fayetteville, Ga.) and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (Santa Ana, Calif.).
Iowa signee Samantha Logic, a guard from Racine, Wis., will play on the East team. Waterloo West Coach Tony Pappas is an assistant for the East.
Stokes and Logic also will play in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, site of the Women's Final Four. Ballard's Taylor Greenfield, a Stanford signee, also will play in that game.
