With the public health concerns now minimalized, her interment of ashes will be on Saturday, June 19, at 12:30 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a celebration of her life following.
Mary Ruth Berger was born on June 16, 1927, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Joseph and Mary Florence (O'Brien) Berger. On Dec. 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Dr. Bernard Francis Schuller. They were married for 48 years and together raised their five children.
She was a woman of strong faith, a devoted member of her Joy! prayer group and an active member of All Saints and later St. Matthew's Catholic churches.
To all who knew her, Ruthie was full of laughter, love and generosity. Known for her ability to harmonize with any song (even in her last days) as well as her quick wit and excellent cooking skills, her home was always a warm and welcoming haven. Her children's friends often shared their dinner table and she never missed a game, a dance recital or a play performance.
She will be in our hearts and minds forever.
